Quad Cities River Bandits News Release

Geneva, IL - The Quad Cities River Bandits jumped out to a big lead in the game's first inning and never looked back on the way to 10-3 win over the Kane County Cougars on Friday night at Northwestern Medicine Field.

The River Bandits jumped on Kane County starter Jhoan Duran in the top of the first. They scored six runs on eight hits and sent nine batters to the plate before Duran was removed without recording an out. All nine players in the lineup registered one hit in the frame and the Bandits scored eight runs before the inning came to a close. Miguelangel Sierra hit a two-run home run, his seventh of the season. Chandler Taylor, Scott Schreiber, and Marty Costes each tallied RBI singles and Seth Beer ripped a two-RBI double to left.

The River Bandits found a way to add to their lead without the help of a hit in the seventh. Alfredo Angarita and Beer both walked. They each advanced 90 feet on a wild pitch and then Angarita raced home on a passed ball to increase the lead to 9-0.

Kane County got on the board in the seventh inning by loading the bases against reliever Willy Collado. Jazz Chisholm followed with a two-run single to left to close the gap to 9-2. In the eighth, the Cougars loaded the bases once again off of Collado and the right-hander walked Tim Susnara to force in a run. With the bases full and no outs in a 9-3 game, Tanner Duncan was summoned and quickly retired all three hitters without allowing any further damage.

Quad Cities tacked on one more run in the top of the ninth when Michael Papierski doubled to lead off the inning and then scored on a groundout by Beer. Duncan finished the game by retiring the side in order in the bottom half.

Despite recording just two hits after the first inning, the Bandits finished with 11 in the game. Colton Shaver and Papierski each had two. Beer drove in three and Sierra brought home two.

Enoli Paredes, the Bandits starter, threw 5.2 scoreless innings to pick up the win. The right-hander struck out seven and scattered four hits while walking a pair. Paredes has not allowed a run in his last 16.1 innings of work. Collado allowed all three runs in 1.1 innings during which he allowed five hits and issued three walks. Duncan worked 2.0 perfect innings, striking out a pair in the process.

The River Bandits (3-6, 43-36) and Cougars (4-5, 39-39) continue this series on Saturday night with first pitch set for 6:30 p.m. RHP Chad Donato will make his debut on the mound for the Bandits against RHP Brian Shaffer (3-5, 3.09) of Kane County.

All River Bandits games are broadcast on 1170 K-BOB and TuneIn Radio. Home games are also available with video on MiLB.TV.
