Bandits Cruise to Ninth-Straight Victory

Davenport, Iowa - The Quad Cities River Bandits never trailed on Thursday night, as they defeated the Beloit Sky Carp 6-1 at Modern Woodmen Park for their ninth consecutive victory, the franchise's longest since 2019.

Despite being out-hit in the game, Quad Cities manufactured a two-run lead in the first two innings, with Cayden Wallace plating Jack Pineda's leadoff walk in the first and Jack Alexander driving in Carter Jensen's leadoff double with a ground ball in the second.

While Beloit starter Edgar Sanchez settled down to keep the Bandits off the board over the next two innings, Wallace got to him again in the fifth, driving in his second and third RBIs of the contest with a two-run double for a 4-0 Bandits lead.

Staked to the early cushion, Luis Barroso gave Quad Cities his longest outing of the season in his campaign's first start, blanking the Sky Carp through 4.0 innings with three strikeouts.

Eric Cerantola took over on the mound for Barroso in the fifth and stranded a pair of Beloit runners in scoring position, while Darryl Collins made it a 6-0 QC lead with his first home run of the season in the bottom half- a two-run shot off Franklin Sanchez.

Right-hander Ronald Medrano made his River Bandits debut in the seventh inning and kept the shutout intact with three strikeouts in a scoreless frame.

Beloit cracked into the run column against Marlin Willis in the eighth, on Joe Mack's RBI single, but the lone run was all they would get, as Willis stranded men on the corners to end the eighth, before Anthony Simonelli used a game-ending double play ball to shut the door in the ninth.

Cerantola (1-3) earned his first win of the season for Quad Cities, stranding a pair of walks with two strikeouts in 2.0 scoreless innings, while Beloit's Edgar Sanchez (1-4) took the loss, surrendering four runs, three earned, in 4.1 innings.

Quad Cities will look for its tenth-straight win on Friday night at Modern Woodmen Park, as right-hander Chandler Champlain (3-3, 2.56) will get the ball against Sky Carp lefty Cade Gibson (0-0, 0.00). First pitch is set for 6:30pm.
