
Back to school with the Washington Mystics and Wizards

Washington, D.C. âThe Washington Mystics and Wizards are currently hosting an essay contest for students in the 7th, 8th or 9th grade living in the Washington, Metropolitan area. The winner from each grade will be escorted from their home to their respective school by a Mystics and Wizard player.
This year, students are asked to list three characteristics that they learned in athletics and how the characteristics apply to their everyday life. All essays should be 500 words or less, typed and double spaced. The deadline for all entries is Monday, August 23rd. Winners will be announced on Wednesday, September 1st on the Washington Mystics and Washington Wizards websites. Entries will be judged on creativity and content.
"We have had tremendous success with the essay contest in the past," said Mystics Senior Vice President of Business and Basketball Operations Judy Holland Burton. "This is a popular program and it is rewarding to read the thoughts of our youth."
