LAST GAME: The B-Mets snapped a three-game losing streak and avoided getting swept by the Reading Phillies in an 8-5 win yesterday at NYSEG Stadium. Binghamton broke a tie game with by plating two runs in the seventh inning without hitting the ball out of the infield. The B-Mets used two walks, two infield singles and a throwing error by reliever Juan Morilloto take the lead for good. Zack Wheeler made the start for Binghamton and battled through six innings, allowing a season-high three runs on seven hits in the no-decision. Edgar Ramirez worked around an error and a walk to post a scoreless seventh inning, earning his first win since July 14, 2011. After Brad Holt threw a perfect eight, Adrian Rosario nearly fumbled a five-run lead in the ninth. The righty allowed two runs on three hits, while recording just two outs. With the tying run at the plate, Robert Carson entered and nailed down his fourth save by inducing Sebastian Valle to fly out to end the game.

STARTING PITCHING MATCHUP: RHP Gonzalez Germen (2-4, 4.50) makes his seventh appearance and sixth start for the B-Mets. The native of the Dominican Republic snapped a three-game losing streak by earned the win against the Trenton Thunder in his last start on June 8. The righty allowed two runs on five hits and matched a season-high with 7.0 innings. He issued no walks and struck out six. Germen was promoted from St. Lucie (High-A) on May 4 to fill-in when Zack Wheeler went on the disabled list. Germen went 3-0 with a 3.04 ERA in five games (four starts) with St. Lucie before his promotion.

RHP Brandon Cumpton (7-4, 2.97) takes the mound for his team-leading 13th start of the season. The Georgia native comes off his first no-decision of the season, allowing one run on two hits over 6.1 innings against the Akron Aeros on June 9. He struck out a season-best six, but walked four, also a season-high. Cumpton has won seven of his last nine decisions and has allowed two runs or fewer in eight of his 12 starts. Righties are hitting just .211 against Cumpton. Selected in the 9th round of the 2010 draft out of Georgia Tech, he is in his first year with the Curve.

FLOATING AROUND .500: After kicking their record to .500 on Saturday, the B-Mets dropped three straight, tying their longest losing streak of the year (done twice before). With more than 40% of the season in the books, the B-Mets have never been more than two games over .500 and no worse than three games under .500.

WALK THIS WAY: The B-Mets worked out five walks yesterday against the Reading Phillies, including three with the bases loaded. B-Mets outfielder Juan Lagares racked up a career-high three free passes yesterday. Lagares has walked 18 times in 60 games this season after walking just five times in 38 games with the B-Mets last year.

MR. CONSISTENT: B-Mets first baseman Eric Campbell ripped two doubles yesterday to kick his batting average to a team-best .320. The Connecticut native has not dropped below .300 since reaching the plateau on May 11. His average is the fifth-best in the Eastern League. He leads the league with a .429 on-base percentage.

OFF ON THE WRONG FOOT: Binghamton has had difficulty starting series off with a victory. The B-Mets have gone just 6-14 in series openers.

PITCHERS AT THE PLATE: The B-Mets pitchers have combined to hit just .056 at the plate (1-for-18) this season. Greg Peavey has the only hit.

AGAINST THE CURVE: The B-Mets welcome in the Curve for their first of two visits to the Southern Tier in 2012. Altoona will play in Binghamton for two of their next three weekends. The B-Mets went 4-6 against the Altoona Curve last season, including a 3-4 mark at home. The B-Mets have won two straight meetings.
