LAST GAME: The Trenton Thunder completed a three-game sweep, defeating the Binghamton Mets, 7-1, yesterday afternoon at NYSEG Stadium. The Thunder collected nine hits, including five doubles, to push the B-Mets to twelve games out of first, their largest deficit of the season. All nine hits for Binghamton were singles. Cory Mazzoni suffered the loss, allowing two runs on three hits over five innings of work. Jeff Stevens and Adrian Rosariocombined to allow five runs (four earned) on six hits and three walks in three innings of relief. Edgar Ramirez threw a perfect ninth. The B-Mets scored just one run off starter Vidal Nuno who tossed six innings to collect his fifth win. Craig Heyer and Francisco Rondon threw four scoreless innings to complete the game.

STARTING PITCHING MATCHUP: LHP Mark Cohoon (4-7, 3.59) makes his 15th start of the season and first of the year against the Bowie Baysox. The southpaw from Burleson, Texas has allowed just one earned run in his last two starts combined. He left with the chance to win in his last start against the Erie SeaWolves on July 13, but the bullpen failed to preserve the lead. Cohoon allowed one unearned run on five hits over six innings. He struck out a season-high six batters. The southpaw has gone six innings or more in his last six starts and eleven starts overall this season.

LHP Rick Zagone (2-2, 4.13) takes the mound for his fifth start with the Baysox this season. He allowed one run on four hits in a win over the Reading Phillies in his last start on July 14. He walked one and struck out four in the contest. Zagone defeated the B-Mets in his first start of the year with Bowie on June 26, allowing just one run on three hits over seven innings. Zagone started the season with the Frederick Keys (High-A), going 3-1 with a 2.91 ERA in 13 appearances (nine starts) in the Carolina League. He also made two starts with the Norfolk Tides (AAA), going 1-0 while not allowing a run in 11.1 innings. Selected in the 6th round of the 2008 draft out of the University of Missouri-Columbia, Zagone is in his fifth pro season and third with the Bowie Baysox.

GOOD START, BAD FINISH: The B-Mets hit the road after going 4-4 on their most recent homestand. They took four of five from the Erie SeaWolves, but were swept in a three-game series by the Trenton Thunder. They continue to sit in fourth in the Eastern Division, 12 games out of first place and 8.5 from a postseason berth.

THE STREAK COMES TO AN END: B-Mets starter Cory Mazzoni's scoreless innings streak came to a quick end in the first inning yesterday. The righty had not allowed a run over 14 innings over his last two starts, but the Thunder's Jose Pirela scored on a double play in the opening frame. Mazzoni also had his two-game winning streak snapped.

ALSO COMING TO AN END: B-Mets reliever Jeff Stevens was tagged for three runs on three hits in 1.1 innings of work yesterday. It was the first time in his career he had allowed a run at NYSEG Stadium. Dating back to 2007 in his days as an Akron Aero while in the Cleveland Indians' organization, Stevens had not surrendered a run in the Southern Tier in six appearances spanning 9.2 innings.

AGAINST THE BAYSOX: The B-Mets have gone 0-4 against Bowie this season. They went 2-1 versus Bowie last year at Prince George's Stadium. It was only the fifth time since 1993 the B-Mets had compiled a winning record on the road against Bowie.

LOOKING FOR REVENGE: The B-Mets make their only trip to Maryland in search of their first win this season against the Baysox. Bowie rolled into the Southern Tier in late June and swept the B-Mets in a four-game series. Binghamton was out-scored 33-15 and out-hit 49-30 during the four-game set.

NEXT GAME PREVIEW: The B-Mets continue their roadtrip-opening four-game set against the Baysox tomorrow night at 7:05 PM. RHP Zack Wheeler takes the hill against RHP Zach Clark.
