----- Tonight, the SeaWolves look to get back on track as they hit the road for an eight-game, seven day road trip beginning with a five-game series against the Altoona Curve (Pittsburgh Pirates) at People's Natural Gas Field. Yesterday afternoon, the SeaWolves dropped the series finale to Bowie 5-2. The loss dropped Erie back to its low-water mark of six-games under .500. Amazingly, the five teams in contention for the Western Division Wild Card are all separated by just four games...Both Erie and Altoona are 3-7 in their last 10 games. Erie has dropped seven of its last eight road games...Tonight, James Avery takes the mound for the SeaWolves making his 19th start of the season and fourth against the Curve. Avery is 2-1 in his previous three starts against Altoona. Avery was a tough luck loser in his last start at Binghamton on July 14 as he was outdueled by Zack Wheeler in a 1-0 game. In the game, Avery allowed a run on four hits with three walks and five strikeouts in 5.2 innings of work...RHP Gerrit Cole takes the mound for the Curve making his fifth start and first against Erie. Cole took a loss in his last start at Akron on July 14. In the game, he allowed three runs on six hits with a walk and three strikeouts in four innings of work. Cole was the Pirates first round selection (first overall) out of UCLA in the 2011 June draft. Cole began the season with Class-A Bradenton where he made 13 starts, posting a 5-1 record and 2.55 ERA. His lone start against Lakeland was on May 23. He tossed five shutout innings in a win over the Flying Tigers.
