Pitcher Mark Montgomery Promoted to Trenton

(Trenton, NJ) - The Trenton Thunder, Double-A affiliate of the New York Yankees, announced Thursday that RHP Mark Montgomery, a Florida State League All-Star this season, has been promoted from the Tampa Yankees. Additionally, RHP Danny Farquhar has been promoted to AAA Scranton and OF Dan Brewer has been assigned by the Yankees to the Atlanta Braves organization. Montgomery will be in uniform Thursday night for the team's game against Reading and available in the bullpen.
Montgomery, an 11th-round pick by the Yankees in 2011 from Longwood University, appeared in 31 games with Tampa this season and went 4-1 with a 1.34 ERA. He converted 14-of-15 save opportunities and struck out 61 batters in 40.1 innings pitched. Montgomery was named as the Yankees 23rd-best minor league prospect heading into the 2012 season by Baseball America.
Farquhar appeared in six games with the Thunder after being claimed off waivers by the Yankees in June and went 1-0 with four saves and a 0.00 ERA. He allowed only two hits in 11 innings pitched and recorded a save in each of his final four appearances with Trenton.
Brewer had been on the Trenton disabled list since May 24th with a hand injury. He batted .221 with one home run and eight RBI in 27 games with the Thunder this season.
