
SeaWolves-Curve Series Opener Postponed

CURVE, Pa. - Thursday evening's series opener between the Curve and Erie SeaWolves at Peoples Natural Gas Field has been postponed due to rain. The game will be made up on Sunday, July 22 as part of a doubleheader beginning at 5 p.m.
Fans who had tickets to Thursday night's (July 19th) contest at Peoples Natural Gas Field can exchange them for any other remaining 2012 Altoona Curve game for equal or lesser value based on availability.
The Curve and SeaWolves will now open their series with on Friday with that day's regularly scheduled doubleheader set to begin at 6:00 p.m. Friday night's twinbill, scheduled by the Eastern League prior to the season, features a pair of giveaways with the first 100 fans through the gates receiving a Florida State League game-used baseball that could have been thrown by Pirates' top prospect and Curve starter Gerrit Cole during his time with the Bradenton Marauders to begin this season. The first 1,000 fans in attendance will receive a Gerrit Cole Fireball giveaway presented by Unifirst, showing off the right-hander's trademark heat.
The originally scheduled Toy Stock Car giveaway presented by Furrer Beverage to the first 500 fans ages 21 and over has been pushed back to the Curve's August 30th regular season home finale against the Akron Aeros.
Altoona will send right-hander Cole (2-2, 5.17) to the hill in Friday's opener opposite his regularly scheduled Thursday opponent, righty James Avery (9-7, 4.25). The SeaWolves will throw right-hander Jared Gayhart (1-1, 4.56) in the finale with Altoona's starter still to be determined. Game two will be played 30 minutes following the conclusion of game one.
