BOWIE, MD - The Binghamton Mets overcame two deficits, including one in the ninth inning, to defeat the Bowie Baysox in ten innings, 4-3, Thursday night at Prince George's Stadium. Allan Dykstra drove in the game-winning run by skipping a two-run double down the first base line and Robert Carson struck out three to collect the victory in relief.

After blowing a one-run lead in the eighth, the B-Mets desperately fought back in the ninth. Trailing by one, the bottom of the order delivered against reliever Chris Petrini. Jefry Marte started the rally with a single and Sean Kazmar put two aboard with a sneak bunt. Juan Centeno tied the game by threading an RBI single up the middle to force extras.

Reliever Robert Carson picked up two outs in the ninth inning and returned for the tenth after Dykstra's big hit. The lefty worked around a two-out single and posted a shutout inning, striking out Jonathan Schoop to end the game. The victory was his first since August 2011.

The wild contest started in a relatively calm fashion with four scoreless innings. The Baysox drew first blood in the fifth against B-Mets starter Mark Cohoon. Manny Machado capped an eight-pitch at bat, by lining a double to left field. The speedy shortstop moved to second on Rhyne Hughes' single to left and scored when Caleb Joseph bounced into a double play.

Binghamton was kept in check through five innings by starter Rick Zagone, but responded in nearly identical fashion in the top of the sixth. Reese Havens started the inning by floating a double over Robbie Widlansky in left field. Wilmer Flores wasted little time bringing him home by golfing an RBI single to left center field.

The B-Mets took the lead against Zagone in the seventh. Jefry Marte shot a single through the hole on the left side and moved to second on a sac bunt. After Sean Kazmar flied out, Juan Centeno sent a ground ball up the middle. Second baseman Jonathan Schoop fielded on the backhand cleanly, but his off-balance throw to first evaded Rhyne Hughes. As the ball rolled to the Bowie dugout, Marte scampered home with the go-ahead run.

The advantage vanished in the bottom of the eighth. Cohoon kept the Baysox in check, but allowed consecutive singles. After allowing a sac bunt, Brad Holt replaced the lefty.

With runners on second and third, Holt fell behind on Jonathan Schoop in a 3-0 count. Holt's fourth pitch was intended to complete an intentional walk, but sailed to the backstop, allowing Caleb Joseph to score the tying run. Holt followed by bouncing a pick-off throw to first past Allan Dykstra, allowing Antoan Richardson to score the go-ahead run.

The damage nearly got worse later in the inning. With two outs, Josh Barfield singled to left. Schoop attempted to score from second, but was gunned down at the plate by Eric Campbell. The play kept the deficit at one, setting the stage for Binghamton in the top of the ninth.

The comeback win snapped Binghamton's three-game losing streak. It was their third win in extra innings and their first when trailing after eight innings. Carson (1-2) took the win, while Petrini (5-3) suffered the loss. Brad Holt was saddled with his third blown save.

The B-Mets (46-51) continue their four-game series against the Baysox Friday night at 7:05 PM. RHP Zack Wheeler takes on RHP Zach Clark. The Horizons Federal Credit Union pre-game show begins at 6:50 PM on Newsradio 1290 WNBF.
