Aviators Lose 9-4 in Extras

LOVES PARK, IL- The Rockford Aviators (32-48) presented by Pearson, rallied back to force extra innings but ran out of gas and lost to the Normal CornBelters (41-39), 9-4.

Tony Butler got the start for the Aviators. He pitched five innings allowing three runs on just three hits, while striking out five CornBelters.

Elijah Trail hit a double in the third inning. Edgar Corcino followed with a RBI single that brought Trail and gave the Aviators the lead 1-0.

In the sixth inning Butler walked the bases loaded and the CornBelters were able to take advantage. They pushed three runs across in the inning to take a 3-1 lead.

The Aviators answered back in the bottom of the inning when Dusty Robinson hit a RBI double that scored Corcino and Ryan Breen hit a RBI single as well as the Aviators tied the game back up at three.

Santiago Chirino hit a RBI triple in the top of the seventh to give the CornBelters a 4-3 lead.

In the bottom of the ninth with two outs Edgar Corcino hit a RBI single that brought in a run and tied the game.

Trail went 3-4 in the game tonight, his best game as a professional. The Aviators totaled thirteen hits tonight.

In the top of the thirteenth inning Pat McKenna hit a solo homerun to give the CornBelters a 5-4 advantage. The CornBelter pushed four more in the inning to give them the 9-4 victory.

The Aviators will have a off day tomorrow before they begin their series with the Joliet Slammers Tuesday night at 7:05 p.m.
