Last time out...
Peter Gehle (4-5) went seven and a third innings of two-run ball; Rolando Gomez homered and drove in two runs, and the Florence Freedom (34-44) knocked off the Joliet Slammers (30-50) by a final score of 6-2 Saturday night. Cole Miles and Zak Blair smacked back-to-back singles to start the first inning. Sam Eberle walked and one out later Rob Kelly delivered a two-RBI single to right as Florence took a 2-0 lead. Joliet got one back in the third on a Grant DeBruin RBI fielder's choice but Florence would strike back in the bottom of the third inning. RBI singles from Chance Ross and Adam Taylor made it 4-1 Freedom. A RBI grounder cut the Freedom lead to 4-2 in the fourth but that was as close as Joliet got in the game. In the bottom of the fourth Gomez went yard for his first long ball of the year. He added a sacrifice fly in the sixth to extend the lead to 6-2. Gehle and Ed Kohout took care of the rest.
For Starters...

He walked three and struck out three in the start. Marban has made 30 appearances out of the bullpen this season and has 11 saves. 2014 is Jorge's fifth in professional baseball and third with the Freedom. In his professional career, Marban owns a 2.88 ERA and has struck out 184 batters in 156 innings entering the 2014 season.
Going for the sweep...

Pitching dominates...
The Freedom have surrendered three or fewer runs in six of their past eight games with three shutouts mixed in.
No doubles...offense...

Home is where the wins are...
Despite currently sitting at 10 games under .500, the Freedom have been a solid team at home, posting a record of 25-21 so far this season at UC Health Stadium.
Five is the magic number...
When the Freedom score five or more runs in a game they have a record of 20-9 this season.
Excellent Eberle...
Sam Eberle continues to lead the Freedom in nearly offensive category. He has a team-leading: .326 batting average, 45 runs scored, 15 doubles, 36 RBI, 124 total bases, 53 walks, .448 OBP, .481 SLG and a .929 OPS. Eberle is second on the team in home runs with seven behind Rob Kelly (eight).
Over the last 10...
Zak Blair is on fire recently for the Freedom, posting a batting average of .448 (13-29) over the past 10 games with six runs scored and five RBI. The Freedom's offense overall has been much-improved in recent games with a team batting average of .274 over the past 10 contests with 7 home runs and 38 RBI.
Tonight's Special Jersey Number...
