Grand Rapids, Mich. - The Grand Rapids Griffins of the American Hockey League on Friday announced that center Sean Avery has been recalled by the Detroit Red Wings.
In four games with the Griffins since his assignment one week ago, Avery scored one goal and two assists while recording eight penalty minutes and an even rating.
The 22-year-old Avery went scoreless in his lone NHL appearance this season, Detroit's 4-2 win at Anaheim on Oct. 13.
