Game Notes: The Rochester Americans (0-4-1-1, 2 points) host the Central Division rival Grand Rapids Griffins (1-3-1-0, 3 points) tonight at 7:35 p.m. at The Blue Cross Arena at the Rochester War Memorial... The game will be broadcast on WHTK 1280-AM and on the web at www.amerks.com... Rochester owns a 3-1-0 all-time record against the Griffins, which includes three shutouts by Tom Askey last season.
Family Four Pack: The Rochester Americans unveil the "Family Four Pack" ticket promotion. tonight... The "Four for $40" deal includes four tickets, four sodas and four hot dogs for $40... The game-night sponsor is the Democrat & Chronicle... Call 454-5335 for more information.
Amerk Notes: The Amerks enter the contest against the Grand Rapids Griffins with a 0-4-1-1 record... Rochester, despite registering two points in six games, remains one point behind Cleveland, Grand Rapids and Cincinnati for first place in the Central Division... Denis Hamel rejoins the Amerks after being reassigned by the Buffalo Sabres Thursday... Ryan Miller and Jiri Novotny were ranked among the Top 30 Prospects in the AHL by SportsTicker Boston... The list was compiled based on who played well in international competition, draft status and needs of their NHL clubs... Miller was ranked fourth and Novotny was picked 22nd by the sports service... Rookie winger Sean McMorrow is fifth in the AHL with 36 penalty minutes.
Griffins Notes: Grand Rapids remained in a three-way tie for first place in the Central Division, after losing 4-2 to the Houston Aeros last night... Center Mark Mowers is on a five-game scoring streak... He is tied for second in the AHL with 10 points (2+8)... Michel Picard is two points away from 250 as a Griffin, registering 111 goals and 137 assists... The Griffins are 1-0-0-0 on the road this season.
Next Game: On Saturday, October 26th, the Amerks travel to play the Albany River Rats... The old Empire and Mid-Atlantic Division foes play a 7:05 p.m. game at the Pepsi Arena... The game is the second of six meetings between the two teams... Rochester tied the River Rats on October 11th in its home and season opener... The game Saturday will be broadcast on WHTK 1280-AM and on-line at www.amerks.com.
