Frederick Keys News Release
Salem, VA -- For the sixth straight game the Keys came out on the losing end, falling to the Salem Avalanche, 9-1 on Monday night in Salem.
The Avalanche put five runs on the board in the eighth inning against Trevor Caughey, but had already wrapped up the game, as Avalanche starter Ronnie Martinez limited the Keys to just one run, unearned on five hits, before Robert Stiehl came on to throw 2.0 perfect innings, striking out four to earn his first save.
Salem started early against Keys' starter Kevin Hart when Ervin Alcantara singled to drive in Edwin Maysonet, before he later scored on Francisco Caraballo's triple, giving the Avalanche a 2-0 lead.

Maysonet scored again in the bottom of the third when Mario Garza grounded into a double play. Caraballo homered, his sixth of the season, in the sixth inning to widen the gap, 4-1.
Salem would seal the victory in the bottom of the eighth inning highlighted by Lou Santangelo's two-run home run, helping Salem win 9-1.
