The trophy shelf keeps getting full of K-Tribe player awards. Today Chuck Lofgren was awarded his second Carolina League Pitcher of the Week Award. The 20 year old, left hander went 2-0 last week with a 0.73 ERA. He pitched 12.1 innings, giving up just six hits and one earned run. Lofgren also won the Pitcher of the Week Award for the week of May 7th. Lofgren (9-2, 1.61 ERA) leads the Carolina League in wins and is second in ERA. Lofgren's nine wins this season is tied for the most wins in all of Minor League Baseball. His 1.61 ERA is the 13th best in all of Minor League Baseball.
Kinston right fielder Ryan Goleski has been voted the Carolina League's Topps Player of the Month for May in a poll of the managers. Goleski was promoted to Double A Akron May 28. In his 21 May games with Kinston, Goleski batted .426 with eight home runs and 37 RBI. In his 38 Carolina League games to date Goleski is leading the league with 43 RBI, is tied for the league lead with 10 home runs and is second in batting average at .331. The right-handed hitting 24-year old was drafted by Cleveland out of Eastern Michigan University in sixth round in 2003.
