
Austin Spurs Top Texas Legends 106-93 to Clinch Playoff Spot

CEDAR PARK, Texas - Deshaun Thomas and Cady Lalanne each posted a team-high 21 points as the Austin Spurs defeated the Texas Legends 106-93 Thursday night at Cedar Park Center in front of a crowd of 6,000 plus. Austin clinched a spot in the 2016 NBA D-League Playoffs with the win over Texas.
Austin's (26-19) Nick Johnson and Keifer Sykes each contributed 16 points in the winning effort.
Chris Douglas-Roberts paced Texas (21-25) with a team-high 23 points, while teammate Andre Dawkins posted 14 points.
Austin and Texas traded baskets to begin the first quarter before Austin took the lead, 16-12, with a Deshaun Thomas bucket at the seven-minute mark. Texas went on a short 10-2 run with three minutes remaining to go up 28-23. Demetri McCamey hit a last-second shot at the end of the first, bringing the score to 33-31. Douglas-Roberts contributed 14 points for Texas in the quarter.
The second quarter would see a tight battle for control of the game with eight lead changes, but Texas would enter halftime with a two-point lead, 56-54.
Texas relinquished their lead in the first minute of the third quarter as Austin went on a 15-5 run in the first seven minutes to lead, 69-61. Austin outscored Texas 32-18 in the third, but Texas finished the quarter strong with an 84-76 lead.
Austin maintained control in the fourth, leading by as many as 18, and finishing the game with a 106-93 victory. Austin shot 47 percent from the field (9-of-19), while Texas shot 37 percent (7-of-19).
Austin will be back at Cedar Park Center tomorrow night to take on Maine (28-19) at 7:30 p.m. (CST). The Central Texas Annual High School All-Star Games will take place before the game.
