Dahntay Jones Scores 30, But Grand Rapids Falls to Erie

ERIE, Pa. - Dahntay Jones scored a season-high 30 points, but it wasn't enough as the Grand Rapids Drive snapped a three-game winning streak.

Grand Rapids lost 127-123 to the Erie BayHawks on Thursday night in front of 3,351 fans at the Erie Insurance Arena.

Kelsey Barlow's 3-pointer cut the deficit to 122-119 with 42 seconds left in the game.

Grand Rapids, the affiliate of the Detroit Pistons, falls to 21-25. Erie (12-34) snaps the worst losing streak in D-League history. The Bayhawks had lost 17 games in a row. The previous record was 14.

Jones, a 6-foot-5 guard out of Duke, was 10-of-18 from the field. In his past four games, Jones is averaging 24 points. He's averaging 14.6 points overall.

Ismael Romero continues to make the most of his playing time. Romero, a 6-foot-9 forward out of Cuba, had a season-best 24 points and nine rebounds. He's averaging 16 points and 10 rebounds in his last four games.

The Drive had a season-best six players score in double figures. Bruce Massey and Kelsey Barlow each had 16 points, Devin Ebanks had 14 and Xavier Ford had 10.

Jones had a couple of dunks off break-aways in the first half to help the Drive take a 68-61 lead at halftime. He had 15 of his 19 points in the second quarter.

A pair of former Michigan State standouts led the BayHawks in scoring. Keith Appling had a game-high 35 points and Branden Dawson had 23. Dawson had played 15 games with the Drive earlier this season.

The Drive conclude their three-game road trip on Friday night with a 7 p.m. game at Canton. The regular season concludes next week. The final home games are Monday and Wednesday against the Raptors 905.
