AUSTIN - The Austin Spurs today announced that they have selected forward David Shriver with the seventh overall pick in the first round of the 2023 NBA G League Draft.
Shriver, 6-6/220, most recently played for Virginia Commonwealth University during the 2022-23 season. In 35 games, he averaged 6.5 points and 2.3 rebounds in 19.2 minutes. Prior to VCU, Shriver appeared in 32 contests for the University of Hartford and averaged 10.7 points and 4.2 rebounds. Shooting .413 (88-213) from beyond the arc, Shriver led the American East Conference in three-pointers made.
The Philippi, West Virginianativebegan his basketball career at Alderson Broaddus University from 2018-21. In his three seasons with the Battlers, he averaged 12.4 points and 3.8 rebounds in 30.3 minutes in 74 games. Shriver knocked down 213 three-pointers, the second most in school history and earned 2021 All-MEC Honorable Mention.
