
Austin FC, Jon Gallagher Agree to New Multi-Year Contract

Austin, TEXAS - Austin FC announced today the Club agreed to a new multi-year contract with defender Jon Gallagher. The deal includes four (4) guaranteed years through the end of the 2026 season, with an option for the 2027 season.
"Being a part of Austin FC has been a genuinely special experience for me, and I'm excited to continue building something amazing for this community," said Gallagher. "I can't wait to be back with our fans at Q2 Stadium next year."
During the 2021 and 2022 MLS seasons with Austin FC, Gallagher tallied four (4) goals and five (5) assists in 59 appearances, including the Club's first-ever goal at Q2 Stadium vs. Portland Timbers on July 1, 2021.
"Jon was a consistently strong performer throughout 2022," said Austin FC Sporting Director Claudio Reyna. "He's adapted incredibly well to playing a new role and we're thrilled to keep him in Austin. We look forward to watching his continued growth."
Gallagher tied for second on the team in interceptions in 2022 (32), and only trailed teammate Diego Fagundez in key passes during the 2022 Audi MLS Cup Playoffs with eight (8), helping the team advance to the Western Conference Final in its first postseason appearance.
Before joining the Verde & Black, Gallagher played professionally with Atlanta United FC and Scottish Premiership side Aberdeen FC. He played collegiate soccer at the University of Notre Dame from 2014 to 2017.
