
Whitecaps FC Reveal Protected Player List for Friday's MLS Expansion Draft

VANCOUVER, BC - Vancouver Whitecaps FC confirmed on Thursday the club's list of 12 protected and 15 unprotected players for this year's MLS Expansion Draft, which will be held on Friday, November 11. The 'Caps also have six players who are exempt from the draft due to their Homegrown Player status.
The 2022 MLS Expansion Draft will take place tomorrow at 4 p.m. PT, and will be produced and broadcast live on St. Louis CITY SC's YouTube and simulcast on MLSsoccer.com, the MLS App, Twitter, and Twitch.
The offseason roster building events continue with the opening of Free Agency on November 16, Stage 1 of the Re-Entry Process and End-of-Year Waivers on November 17, followed by Stage 2 the Re-Entry Process on November 22.
2022 MLS Expansion Draft
Expansion side St. Louis CITY SC may select up to five players from the eligible pool of 263 players. Once one player has been claimed from a club's unprotected roster, that club is eliminated from the Expansion Draft and may not lose any further players. Any club that has a player claimed will receive $50,000 in General Allocation Money.

The five teams that had players selected by Charlotte FC during the 2021 MLS Expansion Draft, are exempt from the 2022 Expansion Draft: Atlanta United FC, Austin FC, D.C. United, LAFC, New York City FC.
