
Austin FC Exercises Contract Option for Defender Hector Jimenez

Austin, TEXAS - Austin FC announced today the Club exercised the contract option for defender Hector Jimenez. Jimenez remains under contract with the Verde & Black through the end of the 2024 Major League Soccer (MLS) season.
"Hector is an excellent professional who consistently sets an example for other players," said Austin FC Sporting Director Rodolfo Borrell. "We're happy to have him remain with us this season."
Jimenez first signed with Austin ahead of the Club's inaugural season and made 41 appearances over the last three (3) years, tallying a goal and five (5) assists. He spent seven (7) years with Columbus Crew and three (3) with LA Galaxy before joining Austin FC, winning MLS Cup twice with LA and once with Columbus.
In total, Jimenez has played 227 MLS matches between the regular season and playoffs, scoring seven (7) goals and recording 30 assists.
Transaction: Austin FC exercises the contract option for defender Hector Jimenez. Jimenez remains under contract with the Club through the end of the 2024 MLS regular season.
