
Minnesota United, DJ Taylor Pen New Contract

GOLDEN VALLEY, Minn. - Minnesota United announced today that the club has signed defender DJ Taylor to a new two-year contract, with a club option for 2026.
DJ Taylor joined Minnesota United in 2021 after spending four seasons with USL Championship side North Carolina FC. The defender saw action during his first season with Minnesota as a depth piece and shined in 2022, making 26 game appearances, starting 23 games and providing three assists down the right flank.
During the 2023 MLS campaign, Taylor made 30 game appearances, 29 starts, amassing over 2,500 regular-season minutes on the pitch and playing an important role on the back line. He additionally made three U.S. Open Cup starts and two Leagues Cup starts, featuring for a total of just under 400 minutes between those two non-league competitions.
Taylor saw his MLS debut on July 3, 2021 against the San Jose Earthquakes and his first start the following weekend at the Colorado Rapids on July 7. The North Carolina native is a product of the North Carolina FC youth academy. He began his professional career in 2015 with CF Torre Levante of the Spanish Tercera Division but returned to North Carolina during the 2017 season. Taylor then established himself as the starting right back for North Carolina FC in 2018 and was named Defensive Player of the Year in 2019.
Internationally, Taylor represented the U.S U18 National Team in 2015, appearing in two matches and scoring a goal at the Copa Chivas Tournament.
