Aucoin assigned to Albany by Carolina

ALBANY, NY - The Albany River Rats announced today they have been assigned center Keith Aucoin by the 2006 Stanley Cup champion Carolina Hurricanes.

Aucoin played one game with the Hurricanes after being recalled October 15 from Albany before being placed on injured reserve, skating in Carolina's 5-1 win October 16 at Tampa Bay. He suffered a foot injury in the game. Prior to his recall, Aucoin was tied for first in scoring on the River Rats with three points (two goals, one assist) in three games. The 27-year-old native of Waltham, Mass., made his NHL debut in 2005-06 with the Hurricanes, earning one assist in seven games. Aucoin ranked 10th in the AHL in scoring last season with 85 points (29 goals, 56 assists) in 72 games with Lowell, Carolina's former AHL affiliate.
