Rochester Americans News Release

(Rochester, NY)... The Rochester Americans embark on a two-game road trip through New England this week, as the Amerks make stops in Springfield and Manchester. Rochester currently sits atop the North Division and is tied for the second best record in the American Hockey League at 8-1-0-0.

Rochester completed its first month of the season with 16 out of a possible 18 points. October also featured a seven-game winning streak to open the season, which was the best start since 1999-00. The Amerks quick start has them six points ahead of the second-place Grand Rapids Griffins (4-3-1-1, 10 points). Rochester is only one point behind Omaha (8-0-1-0, 17 points) for the most points in the league and is tied with Wilkes-Barre/Scranton (8-1-0-0, 16 points) for second.

Rochester begins November with a showdown with the Springfield Falcons on Friday, November 3rd. The 7:35 p.m. contest is Rochester's first trip to Springfield since the 2000-01 season. The Falcons' roster includes former Amerks Sylvain Dufresne and Norm Milley. Dufresne played in Rochester from 2004 to 2006 and Milley was a fixture in the Amerks' lineup from 2000 to 2005. This season, Milley leads the Falcons with 13 points in eight games. His 11 assists are also tied for third in the AHL. Springfield is tied for fifth in the Atlantic Division (3-5-0-0) with six points.

On Saturday, the Amerks visit the Manchester Monarchs in the first ever meeting between the two teams at Verizon Wireless Arena. Game time is set for 7:35 p.m. The Monarchs (3-3-1-0) are in fourth place in the Atlantic Division, one point ahead of the Lowell Devils and the Falcons. Manchester has dropped its last two games, including a 5-4 overtime decision to the Binghamton Senators on Sunday night. However, the Monarchs netted three power-play goals against the Sens to remain the No. 1 rated team in the AHL. Manchester has converted 32 percent of its chances (15 of 50) on the man-advantage.

Both contests will be broadcast on Hot Talk 1280 WHTK, whtk.com and B2 Networks.

The Amerks' November home slate begins with the second trip to Rochester by the Binghamton Senators. The Amerks will celebrate Red, White and Blue Night on Friday, November 10th as the organization honors the military. All veterans will receive a free ticket to the game and the first 10,000 fans will take home a magnet schedule courtesy of Bonn, Shortsleeve and Ray.

The 7:35 p.m. contest will be broadcast on Hot Talk 1280 WHTK, whtk.com and B2 Networks. The game will also air on Time Warner Cable Channel 98 on Friday, November 10th at midnight and on Saturday, November 11th at 3:00 p.m.

This year, the Rochester Americans rank third in the league with an average attendance of 7,324, trailing only Hershey (9,911) and Wilkes-Barre/Scranton (8,063). After five games, the Amerks have attracted 36,618 fans to The Blue Cross Arena.
