Owen Sound Attack News Release

Tonight, the Owen Sound Attack were looking to feed off their success of the last week and find a win against Peterborough for their first match up of the season, right at home at the Harry Lumley Bayshore on a Saturday night. This was the Bears second of three games in three days.

First penalty of the night went to Peterborough at 4:33 into the game to Austin Osmanski for slashing and the Attack headed to their first powerplay of the evening.

A chance for Peterborough as the puck dinged off the crossbar, and a sigh of relief came from the crowd.

Nick Suzuki got caught up with a Pete and skated off the ice in a hurry, worrying in the crowd - he returned a few minutes into the second.

The Attack opened scoring in the first period when Griffin Wilson found the back of the net for the second time in two games and for his second career OHL goal. The play was assisted by Kevin Hancock and Trent Bourque at 15:10.

Immediately after the goal, the Attack head on their first penalty kill of the night as Maksim Sushko headed to the box at 15:14. The Attack killed the penalty and maintained the 1-0 lead.

Mark McDade Chestnut Park shots on goal in the first period were 12 for the Attack and 14 for Peterborough.

The Petes evened up scoring 3:08 into the second period as centreman Nick Robertson found the back of the net. His goal was assisted by Adam Timleck.

The game headed to 4-on-4 hockey as both Kevin Hancock of the Attack and Cameron Butler of the Petes got caught slashing at 7:37.

Attack found another powerplay opportunity at 11:55 as Petes Matt McNamara headed to the box for a roughing minor.

The Bears did not take this opportunity for granted and Nick Suzuki, proving his earlier injury in the game did phase him, sniped the puck past Petes netminder Tye Austin at 13:23 to take the lead once again at 2-1. The play was assisted by Brady Lyle and Maksim Sushko.

After a brutal hit to Jackson Doherty, Petes Adam Timleck headed to the box at 17:11 for head check, to send the Attack to another powerplay opportunity.

Suzuki did not waste any time and found the back of the net at 18:04 for his 10th goal of the season. Kevin Hancock and Aidan Dudas assisted the play.

Mark McDade Chestnut Park shots on goal in the second period were 21 for the Bears, 8 for the Petes.

Attack headed to the penalty kill early in the game as Maksim Sushko got caught hooking at 41 seconds into the third. The Bears killed the penalty and maintained the 3-1 lead.

The game headed to 4-on-4 hockey once again as Jackson Doherty of the Attack landed a penalty for checking from behind and Petes Cole Fraser got caught roughing at 3:54.

Just as 4-on-4 hockey ended, Adam Timleck of the Petes sniped one past Mack Guzda, unassisted at 5:55 to bring the score up 3-2.

The Attack head to another powerplay with 7:18 left on the clock as Cameron Butler headed to the box for high sticking. Aidan Dudas finds the back of the net at 13:37 with the assist from Hancock and Lyle.

The Bears didn't think a 2-goal lead was enough, and Jackson Doherty finds the back of the net to bring the score to 5-2. Cade Robinson assisted the play.

Attack win 5-2!

Owen Sound Attack's Nick Suzuki earned first star honours for his two goals of the night. Second star honours went to Kevin Hancock, with two assists and Mack Guzda earned the third star, stopping the rubber 35 times on the evening.

Aidan Dudas earned the Hatten Home Hardware Hardest Working Player of the Game, voted by the fans.

At the end of three, Mark McDade Chestnut Park shots on goal were 42-37, in favour of Owen Sound.
