Owen Sound Attack News Release

The Owen Sound Attack visited the Guelph Storm tonight for the first time since the trade deadline reshuffled each teams roster. The Attack held a 3-2 lead in the season series heading into the game, with the home team winning every matchup so far.

The Storm would strike first with Owen Lalonde scoring his 4th of the year assisted by Mackenzie Entwistle. Guelph did well at defending to begin the game, keeping shots away from their goaltender for the first ten minutes. Aidan Dudas decided to take things into his own hands and after being set up by Jackson Doherty he put one past Nico Daws and tied things up at 1 apiece. Maksim Sushko and Barret Kirwin did well to keep pressure on Guelph but we headed into the first intermission tied 1-1. Shots on goal favoured the Storm after 20, 6-5.

The second began in Owen Sound's favour with a power play to begin the frame but the Attack couldn't convert with the man advantage. Five minutes in, Daylon Groulx streaked down the ice and wristed one past Daws to give the Attack their first lead of the night. The Attack kept up the pressure but as the game wore on, the Storm started to fight back. The second half of play was controlled by Guelph and just over 16 minutes into the period Owen Lalonde scored his second of the night to tie things up at two. Guelph continued to push and ended the second period ahead in shots, 22-18.

Guelph began the 3rd with a man advantage and pushed to get the lead. Alexey Toropchenko would do just that as he fired one in and the Storm were ahead 3-2. They continued the pressure and Entwistle extended the Guelph lead to 2 after finding himself alone in front of the net and suddenly the Storm had a 4-2 lead. The Attack fought back but couldn't get one back and Sean Durzi scored against his former team on the power play and the Storm were ahead 5-2. Owen Sound had a late power play but couldn't convert and fell 5-2 to their Midwest division rivals.

The Hatten Home Building Centre Hardest Working Player of the Game was Adam McMaster. The three stars of the game were Aidan Dudas, Mackenzie Entwistle and Owen Lalonde. The Guelph Storm tied up the season series at 3-3, and the home team has won every game so far this season. The two teams will meet again next Friday in Guelph.

The Owen Sound Attack are back in action tomorrow night against the Mississauga Steelheads at the Bayshore, with puck drop scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
