Owen Sound Attack News Release

The Owen Sound Attack is playing some of their best hockey of the 2011/2012 season and if they look to distance themselves from the rest of the pack and try to catch Sarnia for 4th spot, they must continue their fine February play. After having their 6 game win streak snapped last Sunday, the Attack put forth a gutsy effort against the Sarnia Sting coming from behind twice in the third period to force over time, eventually winning on a Jay Gilbert slap shot. During the month of February the Attack have gone 7-1-1, picking up 15 of a possible 18 points while limiting the opposition to a goals against average of 2.44 and putting together a spectacular goals for average of 4.55 goals per game.

The Attack will be without the services of Brendan Childerley (Lower Body), Kurtis MacDermid (Mono) and Jarrod Maidens (undisclosed).

Friday, February 24th: Attack @ Guelph - The Attack are 3-2 against the Storm this season, having made two visits down highway 6 to the Sleeman Centre. The Storm are currently in a battle against the Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds for 8th spot in the Western Conference and sit one point out of the playoff picture with three games in hand. Mike Halmo has torched the Storm for 6 goals and 4 assists in head to head matchups this season.

Look Out For - Scott Kosmachuk is second on the Guelph Storm with 25 goals on the campaign, 4 of which have come against the Attack. The 17 year old does have a -11 rating, however; is considered a Top Prospect for the 2012 NHL Entry Draft.

Tonight's action can be seen live on Rogers TV Local Channel 53 or heard live on Grey Motors Bear Radio with Fred Wallace on 560 CFOS.

Game time at the Sleeman Centre is 7:30pm.
