Oshawa Generals News Release

Plymouth, Michigan - The Generals pushed the game to overtime, but they couldn't complete a miracle comeback Friday night. They fell 4-3 to the Whalers before 2,987 extremely entertained fans at the Compuware Arena. Oshawa was down 3-1 with just 32 seconds remaining when they did the unthinkable: they scored 2 goals and tied the game at 3. Plymouth earned a power play in the extra frame, and it was Stefan Noesen who sealed the deal for the Whalers and completed the hat trick in the process. Christian Thomas scored his 30th goal of the season to tie the game in the third period. Daniel Altshuller made 43 stops in the game. With the point, the Generals remain in 7th place in the Eastern Conference standings.

3 Plymouth power plays forced Oshawa to weather the storm in the first period. The Whalers struck on their third opportunity at 13:38 with a goal from Stefan Noesen.

Noesen added to Oshawa's troubles early in the second, roofing his 28th of the season at 1:44. Plymouth led 2-0. The Generals broke their silence at 13:49 when Lucas Lessio redirected Nicklas Jensen's shot past Wedgewood.

In the third, Whitby native Matthew Mistele potted a loose puck at 14:55, giving Plymouth a strong 3-1 lead.

That's when the Generals strung together their miracle drive. With the net empty, Andy Andreoff found the back of the net at 19:28, trimming Plymouth's lead to 3-2. At 19:51, Christian Thomas pulled the Generals even, scoring his 30th goal of the season. In an extremely unlikely turn of events, the game was headed for overtime.

In the extra frame, the Whalers earned the man advantage and went to work on a 4-on-3. Noesen ended the game at 2:35 wiring a shot past Altshuller stick side. Plymouth outshot Oshawa 47-34 on the night. Lucas Lessio picked up the third star selection in the loss.

Oshawa is right back at it tomorrow night, Saturday February 25th, when they take on the Spirit in Saginaw. Start time is at 7:11 PM, and the game can be seen on OHL LIVESTREAM.

The Generals are back on home ice Sunday March 4th when they battle the London Knights at the General Motors Centre in Oshawa. Start time is 2:05 PM.
