Niagara IceDogs News Release
The Niagara IceDogs fell 3-2 to the hometown Majors Friday night in Mississauga.
The first period saw the IceDogs take the lead as Brett Ritchie continued his strong play making it 1-0 Niagara on a great backhand effort. The goal would prove to be the only of the period as the IceDogs entered the intermission with a 1-0 lead. Shots in the period were 11-11.
The second period would see Mississauga even things up at 1-1 before a Milan Doudera point shot would beat Brandon Maxwell to give Niagara the lead once again at 2-1. The IceDogs would head into the intermission with that same lead and were outshooting the Majors 27-17 after 40 minutes.
The third period would see the Majors tie things up at 2-2 early in the period on the powerplay, and then with a little over seven minute minutes to go in the game Mississauga would strike again, taking their first lead of the game at 3-2. That would prove to be enough as Maxwell would shut things down from there making it a 3-2 final. Final shots were 45-22 in favour of Niagara.
The IceDogs next return to action when they host the Kingston Frontenacs Sunday afternoon at 2pm at the Gatorade Garden City Complex.
