Owen Sound Attack News Release
The Owen Sound Attack have drafted five more skaters in the OHL Priority Selection, presented by Real Canadian Superstore.
In the 3rd round, the Attack picked Artem Shlaine, a 6'1 Centre from Shattuck-St. Mary's Sabres Prep with the 56th overall selection. Detroit Area Scout Nick Tomczyk says Shlaine has "High end compete level, high IQ, sees the ice really well with good vision. 200-foot player that plays hard on defense and can put the puck in the net with skill. Could step into the lineup tomorrow."
With their first pick of the 4th round, the Attack selected defenseman Sam Sedley from the Huron-Perth Lakers with the 70th selection. Assistant GM Joey Hishon says "He's a very solid puck-moving defenseman with great feet and underrated offensive ability. Needs to get physically stronger but tons of upside."
The Attack's second selection in the 4th round was goaltender Gibson Homer from Fox Motors HC 16U. Tomczyk says: "he is very mechanically sound. Controls rebounds extremely well, great footwork. Lateral movement is really good.
In the 5th, the Attack took a pair of teammates from the Mississauga Rebels AAA in the GTHL. The first selection was Jack Guvenal, a 5'11 defenseman. Director of Player Development Sean LaFortune says "Jack's a very simple and efficient defender. He makes very attentive plays in possession. Very easy outlets, and makes it hard on opposition defenders. Not a flashy player, but very consistent shift in, shift out."
With their second pick in the 5th round, the Attack chose Christian Catalano from the Rebels. LaFortune says the centerman is "a very well rounded offensive oriented forward. Strong shooter, good ability to finish plays, he plays hard and is heavy on the forecheck."
The Attack have ten more selections in the OHL Priority Selection.
