ATLANTA - Atlanta United fell 2-1 to Inter Miami CF on Sunday afternoon at DRV PNK Stadium as Ronaldo Cisneros scored his first MLS goal for Atlanta. Despite out-shooting Miami 20-7, a goal against the run of play in the second half proved the difference.

It was a strong start for Atlanta in which they controlled the tempo and created opportunities. In the 13th minute, Atlanta earned its reward for the strong start through Mexican striker Ronaldo Cisneros. Brooks Lennon delivered a corner kick from the right side that was flicked on at the near post by Caleb Wiley. After an attempted Miami clearance, Cisneros attacked the loose ball and slotted home his effort from the edge of the six-yard box for his first Atlanta goal.

Miami leveled the score in the 28th minute after Leo Campana brought down a Deandre Yedlin cross inside the box and turned to fire a low shot inside the far post. Both teams went into the break level.

Atlanta started the second half aggressively and created a pair of chances in the first eight minutes of the half. First, Thiago Almada forced a save from Nick Marsman in the 50th minute after a run from Marcelino Moreno into the box. Lennon had a chance to score from the rebound, however his left-footed shot went over the crossbar. A few minutes later, Lennon played a cross from the right across the six-yard box to Cisneros, but the forward's backheel flick was saved once again by Marsman.

Against the run of play, Miami took the lead in the 64th minute. After a giveaway near midfield, Ariel Lassiter unlocked Atlanta's backline with a through ball to Campana. The Ecuadorian striker squared the ball to an open Bryce Duke who scored from close range. Atlanta searched for the equalizer and had a penalty claim dismissed in the 80th minute after Lennon looked to have been fouled in the box. The play went to VAR review but no penalty was given. Atlanta created a couple of half-chances in stoppage time but weren't able to find the back of the net.

Atlanta (3-3-2, 11 points) returns to action Saturday, April 30 when it travels to face Montreal at Stade Saputo (4 p.m., Bally Sports Southeast, Sports Radio 92-9 The Game, La Mejor).
