Atlanta Braves Outfielder Ender Inciarte Officially Added to M-Braves Roster for Rehab
July 8, 2019 - Southern League (SL1)
Mississippi Braves News Release
PEARL, MS - The Atlanta Braves have made the following roster moves before 'tonight's 6:35 pm game against Biloxi, which affects the Mississippi Braves roster. OF Ender Inciarte's MLB rehab assignment has been transferred from High-A Florida to Mississippi. Inciarte is expected to play in Monday night's 6:35 pm game and Tuesday's 10:35 game for the M-Braves against the Shuckers at Trustmark Park.
Inciarte, 28, launched his rehab assignment on July 1 at High-A Florida where he went 1-for-13 with a single and a walk over five games. Inciarte's addition to the M-Braves roster does not count against the 25-man limit, so no corresponding move is necessary.
The Maracaibo, Venezuela native was placed on the 10-day Injured List on May 15 after sustaining a lumbar strain. Before the injury Inciarte played in 40 games for the Atlanta Braves this season, batting .218 with 27 hits, five doubles, one triple, two home runs, and nine RBI. Last season, Inciarte hit .302 (70-for-232) in 65 games after the All-Star Game.
Inciarte earned his first All-Star nod in 2017 after being selected as a reserve to the National League squad. He went 0-for-2 as Atlanta's lone representative.
Inciarte has earned a Gold Glove award in each of the last three seasons (2016-2018), making him the first to win three straight Gold Glove awards for the Braves since CF Andruw Jones won 10 straight (1998-2007).
The Atlanta Braves acquired Inciarte in 2015 in a trade with Arizona along with RHP Aaron Blair and INF Dansby Swanson for RHP Shelby Miller and LHP Gabe Speier. Inciarte signed a five-year contract extension through 2021, with a club option for 2022.
Tonight the M-Braves will look to make it two wins in a row against the Biloxi Shuckers at Trustmark Park in game five of the six-game set. RHP Claudio Custodio (3-1, 2.29) makes the spot start for the Braves against All-Star RHP Trey Supak (8-4, 2.36) for Biloxi. First pitch is scheduled for 6:35 pm with coverage beginning at 6:20 pm on 103.9 WYAB, TuneIn Radio and MiLB.tv (subscription required).
