Reno Aces News Release

Reno, NV. - The Aces never trailed in their 8-6 victory Saturday night over the Fresno Grizzlies. The win marked the team's fifth straight win, tying a 2019 high. Reno put a four spot on the board in the top of the second with the big blow coming off the bat of infielder Carlos Asuaje, a three-run blast. The team added two more runs in the third. Travis Snider launched a two-run home run in the inning. With the score 7-3 by the six inning, Abraham Almonte hit his 14th dinger of the season, a solo shot to right. Fresno made it interesting with back-to-back home runs in the bottom of the eighth and a run in the ninth, but it wasn't enough for the Grizzlies. Notes & Information

Longball Snider: With outfielder Travis Snider's third inning two-run home run, it marked the second consecutive game the lefty homered. It is the first time Snider has homered in back-to-back games since he went yard in three straight on 7/22-23/14 against the Los Angeles Dodgers while playing for the Pittsburgh Pirates. He homered in his next plate appearance which came on 7/29/14 @ San Francisco to make it three straight games.

Quality Smith: Riley Smith will take the ball for manager Chris Cron tomorrow at 5:05 p.m. against the Grizzlies. He enters the game with a 2-0 record and 4.45 ERA in five starts. He has quality starts in four straight games. In his last four starts, he is 1-0 with a 2.55 ERA in 24.2 innings pitched. He leads the Aces in quality starts this season. Taylor Widener and Braden Shipley each have three, good for second on the team.

Looking for a Sweep: With a victory tomorrow, it will be fourth sweep of the season for the Aces and second in a row. The Aces swept the Nashville Sounds on June 4-6. They swept the Salt Lake Bees on June 25-28. Lastly, they swept the Tacoma Rainiers on June 23-25. It would be the first time the Aces swept two consecutive series since they took four games from Tacoma and then four more against Memphis on May 4-11, 2012.
