(ASHEVILLE, N.C.) Rosell Herrera's home run with two outs in the bottom of the seventh inning broke a 2-2 tie, and the Asheville Tourists went on to a 3-2 win over the Lexington Legends Friday night.
The Legends had taken a 1-0 lead in the top of the second inning on back-to-back doubles by Fred Ford and Mark Threlkeld.
Threlkeld's solo homer in the fourth inning gave the Legends a 2-0 lead.
The Tourists began their comeback in the fifth when they scored a run on doubles by Jason Stolz and Max White.
In the Asheville seventh, Stolz reached on an error by third baseman Kenny Diekroeger. Matt Wessinger sacrificed Stolz to second, from where he scored on a single by White, who was thrown out trying to advance to second.
Herrera then hit his 13th home run of the year, and the Tourists had their final margin.
Patrick Johnson (3-3), who relieved starter Shane Broyles at the start of the seventh inning, got the win.
Christian Binford (4-3) worked the first seven innings for the Legends and suffered his first loss since April 25. Binford, who was selected to play in the South Atlantic League All-Star game, had won his last three decisions.
Asheville has won the first two games of the four-game series, which continues Saturday. Game time is 6:05 p.m.
Mills update: Legends right-hander Alec Mills suffered an injury to his right elbow during his start Wednesday and had to leave the game in the fifth inning. He is in Kansas City for an evaluation of the injury. Mills and right-hander Christian Binford were chosen to represent the Legends in the South Atlantic League All-Star game June 18 in Lakewood, New Jersey.
