SIOUX FALLS, SD MAR. 22, 2011 - The Springfield Armor picked up their second win in three days with a 113-106 victory over the Sioux Falls Skyforce last night.
The Armor opened up a three-point lead after the first quarter and led by nine at halftime. The Armor extended their lead to as many as 19 in the third quarter (87-68), but a late run in the fourth by the Skyforce allowed them to close the gap to 99-97 with four minutes to play. The Armor responded, scoring the next six points and never looked back.
New Jersey Nets assignee, Ben Uzoh, was tremendous for the Armor, as he scored 27 points (12-14 shooting), grabbed 9 rebounds, dished out 5 assists, and added 4 steals. Lance Hurdle, starting for an injured JamesOn Curry, scored 23 points, and Gavin Edwards helped out with 19 points and 5 rebounds off the bench. Chas McFarland (12 points), Scottie Reynolds (11 points), and Jerry Smith (10 points) also scored in double figures for the Armor.
Edwards, Hurdle, Smith, and Uzoh paced the Armor in the first half with 10 points each.
The Armor were terrific shooting the ball for the second consecutive game, knocking down 55.4% (46-83) of their shots on the evening. The Armor also forced 18 Skyforce turnovers.
Sioux Falls got a team-high 27 points, 15 boards, and 6 assists from Patrick Ewing Jr. Sean Marshall added 20 points off the bench and Raymond Sykes contributed 12 points in the losing effort.
The Armor will look for their third straight victory on Saturday when they play their final home game of the season at 8:00 p.m. against the New Mexico Thunderbirds. The game will be the Armor's ¬ËFan Appreciation Night' as well as ¬ËAffiliate Night'.
