PRESCOTT VALLEY, Ariz. - The Arizona Sundogs and Texas Brahmas faced off in the second of a three-game set Friday night at Tim's Toyota Center in Prescott Valley. Wearing vintage-themed jerseys resembling uniforms won by the National Hockey League's ‘Original Six', the Sundogs carried a 2-2 tie into third period before allowing two in the final frame, falling to the Brahmas 4-2. CHL penalty minutes leader Karl Sellan tallied two goals for his sixth multiple-point game of the year in the loss.

Arizona skated into the first intermission with a 1-0 lead courtesy of Karl Sellan's 17th of the year from Adam Perry and Mark Kolanos. While on his club's second power play of the period, Sellan found himself stationed at the top of the goal crease before turning a firing a low wrist shot past Texas netminder David Cacciola at the period's 7:28 mark. Perry collected his 13th assist since being assigned to Arizona, sending a centering feed to Sellan between the circles. Mark Kolanos was also credited with a helper on the first period's lone tally. The visiting Brahmas outshot the Sundogs 7-6 in the first 20 minutes of play Friday night.

After falling behind 1-0 after the first period, Texas tallied two in a six-minute span in the second to take a 2-1 lead. Craig Minard pulled his club even 6:03 into the frame with his fourth of the year, sending a low slap shot from just inside the near circle side past Joel Gistedt. Eric Lundberg recorded an assist on the play, finding Minard at the blue line. After receiving six prior power play chances, the Brahmas finally converted on their seventh man advantage to take their first lead of the game, 2-1. Gistedt made the initial save following a Minard shot through traffic, but Greg McConnell steered the loose puck around the netminder and across the goal line for his fifth of the season. Mike Vellinga also helped on the play. The Sundogs responded with five minutes remaining in the period as Sellan registered his second power play goal of the game and team-leading 18th tally of the year, redirecting a Martin Gascon shot from the point through Cacciola. Kolanos gathered his seventh multiple-point game of the season with his second assist if the contest. Texas held a 12-10 advantage in shots during the second period.

Skating four-on-four to open the third, Texas regained a one-goal lead 28 seconds in as Kevin McLeod snapped a Jordan Cameron pass from below the end line under the arm of Gistedt. Minard notched his second assist and third point of the game on the McLeod go ahead marker. With 2:17 to play, the Brahmas all but secured the victory as Cameron collected his second point with his club's second power play goal of the night from Tyler Skworchinski.

Gistedt fell to 4-8-0 in his second consecutive start, stopping 26 of 30 shots while Cacciola turned aside 22 of 24 shots to earn his fifth win of the season. Arizona finished 2-for-5 with the man advantage while Texas was held to 2-for-9 on the power play.
