Arizona Explodes In Third, Takes Down Amarillo

Prescott Valley, AZ 3/3/10 - The Arizona Sundogs saved their best hockey for the third period, as they scored four times to defeat the Amarillo Gorillas 5-2 Wednesday night.

Amarillo came out flying in the first period and were rewarded with the game's first tally. Forward Jake Morissette took the puck away from a Sundog at the far wall and slipped it to Stuart MacRae who gunned home his 22nd marker on the season from the high slot. Arizona's sensational rookie scorer Joey Sides countered at the 10:06 mark, as he charged toward the Amarillo goal and roofed his shot for his 14th on the year. Amarillo 1 Arizona 1 after one period of play.

The Gorillas scored their second goal of the game only ninety-four into the second period when forward Anthony Battaglia pushed home his eleventh marker on the season off a two-on-one rebound from a David Nimmo shot. Amarillo out shot Arizona 15-10 in the frame and led 2-1 going into the second intermission.

Arizona fought back in the third with four tallies of their own. Nick Biondo, Linus Fagemo, Konrad Reeder, and Kyle Hood all scored, as Arizona pulled off the 5-2 victory.

Stuart MacRae's first period goal was his 22nd, MacRae scored 21 last year (in 60 games)...With his second period marker, Anthony Battaglia has 9 points over his last 8 road games...Earning an assist in the first period, Gordon Bell has 8 points over his last 9 contests.

Amarillo continues their three-game series against the Arizona Sundogs this Friday, March 5th. The game broadcast will start at 7:55pm CST and can be followed on 1440 AM ESPN Radio and CHL-TV.
