Beloit Sky Carp News Release
The Snappers received arguably their most impressive pitching performance of the year Thursday night from right-hander Santos Arias. Santos pitched a complete game shutout, allowing no runs on just three hits.
Beloit jumped ahead in the top of the second inning off the bat of Ozzie Lewis. Lewis blasted a leadoff double to center and was driven home two batters later on an Eric Santiago double play. Ozzie's run put the Snaps ahead 1-0 after one and a half.
Ben Revere scored the second run of the game in the top of the seventh inning after leading off with a triple to right center. Revere scored one batter later on a Joe Benson bunt single to third. Benson's RBI put Beloit up 2-0 after six and a half.
That would be more than enough for Arias Thursday night, as he and the Snappers went on to win by the final of 2-0.
Santos (4-3) picked up four strikeouts on the night and lowered his ERA to 2.39.
Both Ben Revere and Joe Benson had two hits for the Snaps, who improved to 7-1 in the second half.
