Toronto Argonauts News Release
Toronto - It's become an annual tradition for fans of the Double Blue and 2009 is no exception. The Toronto Argonauts are pleased to announce that the annual Fan Day, presented by the Toronto Sun, is back and scheduled for June 14. Fan Day is a unique and interactive experience for the whole family as the Argo faithful get their first opportunity to watch and meet the 2009 Toronto Argonauts players, coaches and cheerleaders.
Fans can take in an Argos practice while kids will get the chance to participate in interactive drills such as a First Down competition, a Football Throw, a Football Kick, a SUBWAY(r) restaurants Punt, Pass & Kick Competition and a customized version of the popular in-school program Argo Recess, which includes an obstacle course featuring a rope ladder, Argo hand offs, calisthenics and yoga. Each fan that participates has a chance to win gift cards and other great prizes.
The day starts with a minor football scrimmage involving the Mississauga Minor Football Association which will also run a raffle throughout the day. The 2009 Argos Cheerleaders will perform and Jason the Argos mascot will entertain the crowd as music will be provided by a DJ and The ArgoNotes. THE FAN 590's Mike Hogan will interview players and coaches and the Argonauts Alumni Assocation will have a booth where Argos legends will sign autographs and pose for photos. #78 Adriano Belli's Big Kiss Fund will once again host patients from SickKids in their own area.
New for 2009 is The Argos Foundation's Dunk Tank where fans have a chance to dunk a friend or family member. As well, the Toronto Sun is setting up a Photowall where fans can pose in the action with Argos cheerleaders. Fans can view their photos after the event at argonauts.ca. If you are on the hunt for brand new 2009 Argos merchandise from Reebok, Fan Day is the place to be. Autographed memorabilia, jerseys and helmets will also be on-sale for collectors in your family.
Argos Access, the new weekly Argonauts show on SUN TV, airing Tuesdays at 6:00 p.m. will be set up to film Argos fans having their say and asking questions for Coach Andrus. These clips may find their way onto a future episode of Argos Access so fans should have their say and then tune in to see if they made it to air.
Concord Premium Meats will be serving up sausages all day while Jones Soda and Jolt Cola will provide samples. Also up for grabs are some fabulous prizes including an All-Inclusive trip for two for 7 days to Punta Cana in Dominican Republic, courtesy of Nolitours, two VIA 1 First Class train tickets anywhere in the Windsor-Montreal corridor, a one night stay at the Strathcona Hotel the night of any Argos home game and a year's supply of Jones Soda.
