Steenbergen Signs His First Contract

Montreal, May 28, 2009 - Montreal Alouettes' Vice President and General Manager Jim Popp announced today that the team's first round draft pick, Dylan Steenbergen and Canadian cornerback Kwasi Nkansah have signed a three-year contracts plus an option year and will be expected at training camp this June.

Steenbergen (6'5'', 285 lbs) was drafted by the Alouettes in the first round, 7th overall, of the 2009 CFL Canadian Draft. He was a Canada West first-team All-Star in 2008. In 2007, he was part of an offensive line that paved the way for running backs Anthony Woodson and Matt Walker to break the Calgary Dinos' single-season rushing record by over 400 yards. He was the 2006 team nominee for the CIS J.P. Metras trophy as lineman of the year. He is 21.

Nkansah (5'10'', 190 lbs) has been protected by the Alouettes as an undrafted Canadian free agent. He played seven games in 2008 with the St. Francis Xavier X-Men, recording 35 tackles, two tackles for losses of seven yards, one interception, two knockdowns and a fumble recovery. He is 22
