September 7, 2015 - Atlantic League (AtL)
Lancaster Stormers News Release

Lancaster's bats were not heard from often on Monday evening.

When they spoke, they were loud.

Anderson Feliz tripled into the right field corner, and Juan Apodaca followed with a two-run homer as the Barnstormers defeated the Camden Riversharks, 2-1, to complete a four-game sweep at Clipper Magazine Stadium.

The Barnstormers' lead in the Freedom Division remained at 4 1/2 games over the York Revolution with 13 games remaining on the schedule. Both teams embark on a six-day road trip on Tuesday.

Lancaster managed only three hits on Monday evening off Jeff Singer (1-2) and T.J. Chism. Kent Matthes had the other with a single to left in the first inning.

Feliz led off the fifth with a fly ball down the right field line that eluded the grasp of Eric Frain in the corner. Apodaca worked the count to 2-2 before lofting a ball onto the picnic tent just inside the pole for his second homer of the season.

Singer, a 21-year old lefty just out of D-III Rutgers-Camden, walked four and struck out five. He also hit Jerry Owens with a pitch in the third inning.

Camden scored its run in the top of the second. Joel Guzman's grounder to first skipped through Mike McDade for an error. Guzman advanced to third on a pair of grounders and scored when Mike Kerns drilled a full count pitch into center.

Otherwise, Madison Boer (3-2) did not allow a runner to reach third. The former Minnesota farmhand allowed only three hits while walking two and striking out seven over six innings.

Pete Andrelczyk pitched a perfect seventh, and Scott Gracey survived two walks in the eighth by striking out the side.

Mat Gamel greeted Marcus Walden with a single to left in the ninth. Frain sacrificed pinch runner Evan Crawford to second. Daniel Rockett, pinch hitting for Kerns, struck out.

Zach MacPhee did his best to tie the game. The Camden left fielder sent a ground ball just to the right of second base. Yusuke Kajimoto raced to his right, skidded to a stop and got off a quick throw to nail MacPhee at first, ending the game and earning Walden his 12th save.

Lancaster opens a three-game series at Southern Maryland on Tuesday evening. The Barnstormers will send right-hander Shunsuke Watanabe (5-4) to the hill against lefty Brian Burres (7-9). Fans may tune into 1390-AM, WLAN; rumba1390.com; or the I Heart Radio cell phone app, beginning at 6:45.

NOTES: Apodaca's homer extended his hitting streak to 10 games, two shy of the team's season high...Matthes has batted safely in seven straight...Gracey threw his 10th straight scoreless appearance...Walden went his 12th without an earned run...Lancaster set a franchise record with its 26th one-run win of the year.
