
Anton tosses complete game, four hit shutout

The Cedar Rapids Kernels snapped a two game losing streak with a 5-0 win over the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers on Friday night. Kernels starter Michael Anton (5-1) threw a complete game, four hit shutout - the fifth shutout by the Kernels this season and the third complete game by a Kernels pitcher. Anton walked two and struck out eight and used two double plays to keep the Timber Rattlers off the scoreboard.
Jeremy Moore was 2 for 4 with a triple, run scored and a walk and Efren Navarro drove in two runs on a single in the eighth inning as the Kernels had five hits in the game. Gordie Gronkowski was 1 for 3 with a triple and stolen base and Jay Brossman was 1 for 3 with a run scored and stolen base.
Wisconsin reliever Walter Suriel (0-1) gave up four runs (two earned) and three walks in 2/3 of an inning to take the loss.
