The Somerset Patriots were defeated by the Hartford Yard on Wednesday night at TD Bank Ballpark, winning by a final score of 3-2.
Each of Somerset's last three losses spanning to August 17 have been decided by one run.
RHP Yoendrys Gomez (5.2 IP, 2 ER, 5 H, BB, 5 K) started the game and went a season-high 5.2 innings on a season-high 74 pitches.
C Ben Rice (1-for-4, RBI, R, HR) smashed his 11th home run in 28 Double-A games to tie the score of the game at 2-2 in the sixth inning.
Since entering the Eastern League on July 18, 2023, Rice leads all members of the Eastern League with a .688 SLG, 1.077 OPS, 11 HR, 34 RBI, 18 XBH and 77 TB.
In six games vs. Hartford this season, Rice is now 11-for-23 with 11 RBI, 6 R and 4 HR.
The performance extended Rice's team-best hit streak to 11 games in which he is now 18-for-47 (.383 BA) with 16 RBI, 11 R, 6 HR, 4 2B and 3 BB.
