Another Huge Night from Delgado Not Enough, Clippers Lose to Mad Ants
January 14, 2019 - NBA G League (G League)
Ontario Clippers News Release
FORT WAYNE, IN - The Agua Caliente Clippers of Ontario (12-12) lost their third in a row on Monday night, falling to the Fort Wayne Mad Ants (14-11), 105-90, despite another career performance by Angel Delgado.
After a low-scoring first half by both teams, Fort Wayne pulled away in the third quarter, outscoring a struggling Clippers squad 27-16. A floater by Rob Gray at the 2:04 mark in the third would give the Mad Ants their largest lead of the night at 75-57. Agua Caliente did themselves no favors coming out of halftime, shooting 27.3 percent from the field in the third frame.
Two-way player Edmond Sumner led Fort Wayne with a team-high 29 points on an efficient 14-for-21 shooting from the field.
Angel Delgado, the G League's leading rebounder, once again dominated the glass for the Clippers, pulling down 24 rebounds to go along with a career high 30 points. This was his league-high fifth 20-plus rebound game and his third 20-20 game this season.
Two-way forward Johnathan Motley missed his fourth straight game for Agua Caliente as he continues his stint with the LA Clippers.
The Clippers look to end their skid as they return home for a six game homestand to finish off January. They host the Stockton Kings on Thursday night in a 7 p.m. (PST) divisional matchup inside the Citizens Business Bank Arena.
