
BayHawks Announce Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Celebration

ERIE, PA - The Erie BayHawks, NBA G League affiliate of the Atlanta Hawks Basketball Club, announced today its Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Celebration game, which will be played this Saturday, Jan. 19 against the Long Island Nets at 7 p.m.
The BayHawks will be wearing MLK-themed uniforms that day, which will honor Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.'s famous "I Have a Dream" speech with the word "dream" printed throughout the jersey. Dr. King's likeness is placed on the side of each uniform, with the Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial Center Erie's logo beneath the players' name.
During the contest, fans will have the opportunity to bid on the game-worn uniforms. All proceeds from the uniform auction will benefit the Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial Center in Erie, Pennsylvania. Erie artist, Ceasar Westbrook, created the unique design and donated his services for the benefit of Erie's MLK Center. The estate of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. granted the team permission to produce the uniforms.
In carrying out its purpose, the Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial Center's mission is to improve the overall conditions of work, play, study, health and living conditions of the people of Erie, Pennsylvania, through an effective program of social services and action.
Cornell Freeney's German Wheel will be providing the halftime entertainment at Erie's MLK Celebration. Freeney has been performing since the age of 13, when he joined the CircEsteem and the Chicago Youth Circus. He's served as entertainment at various NBA and college games, as well as for multiple cruise ships, in addition to other acts.
