Anderson Makes an Impact Quickly in Return to Lineup
March 7, 2022 - Western Hockey League (WHL)
Moose Jaw Warriors News Release
It had been two years since Calder Anderson had stepped foot on the ice for a regular season game at Mosaic Place.
The Moose Jaw Warriors forward made his return to the lineup over the weekend after missing the first 53 games of the season due to knee surgery.
"A little bit of rust, a little bit of nerves, emotions were up and down throughout the game," Anderson said. "It was good to get that one out of the way, so now I can relax and just continue on moving forward."
While there might have been some rust in Anderson's eyes, the 19-year-old made an impact immediately in his first game back, scoring his first goal of the season.
"It felt good, it was nice to get rewarded for a long journey back," he said.
Warriors head coach Mark O'Leary said Anderson has put in a lot of work to get to back onto the ice.
"He's worked his butt off to get to this point, it was nice to see him rewarded with a quick one," he said.

Anderson slotted into the Warriors' top line in both games over the weekend, scoring in Friday night's loss to the Prince Albert Raiders and playing another solid game in the team's 6-5 comeback win over the Brandon Wheat Kings on Saturday.
He said it's going to take a bit to get back to 100 per cent, but he's pleased with how the first two games went.
"I wasn't expecting to do too much out there, took a few shifts to get the kinks out, but just try to do what I can control, work ethic and win puck battles, so it was good," Anderson said.
O'Leary was pleased with what he saw out of the Brandon product in his return to the lineup.
"I thought he had a good game, he did a great job in terms of forecheck, being reliable, on the right side of pucks and really playing the way that we know he can play, he's an honest player," he said.
The Warriors remain in fourth place in the Eastern Conference heading into two more home games coming up this weekend when they host the Calgary Hitmen on Friday and Lethbridge Hurricanes on Saturday.
