Seattle Thunderbirds News Release

KENT, Wash. - Jared Davidson and Nico Myatovic each scored twice, and the Seattle Thunderbirds defeated the Tri-City Americans, 6-2, Sunday at the accesso ShoWare Center. The win was Seattle's fourth in a row overall and ninth this season against Tri-City. The Thunderbirds are back on home ice Friday when they host the Portland Winterhawks. Game time is 7:05 p.m.

The win gave the T-birds a sweep of the three-game weekend. Head coach Matt O'Dette gave the credit to his players. "We'll take that every time. Credit to the guys for working hard all weekend long." He said getting all six points was their goal. "Lots of good habits throughout the weekend and on to the next one."

Seattle (34-14-4-1) wasted little time getting on the board as Matt Rempe put back a rebound of a Sawyer Mynio shot just 2:23 into the first period. Four minute later, while on the power play, the T-birds doubled their lead thanks to Lukas Svejkovsky.

The T-birds took advantage of an Americans turnover to add to their lead early in period two. Davidson intercepted a clearing pass in front of the Tri-City goal and scored just 45-seconds into the second frame. Davidson then made it 4-0 Seattle when he finished off a Svejkovsky feed at 3:51.

The two goals give Davidson 27 on the season, which leads the team. Davidson also has 67-points on the season (27g, 40a) which ties him for eighth in the league. "He's playing great for us," said O'Dette, who added Davidson's line, with Svejkovsky and Reid Schaefer, had a good game. "Tonight, they were really good. They were buzzing all night long with several big chances."

Myatovic got the first of his two goals late in period two, assisted by Kevin Korchinski and Jordan Gustafson. O'Dette was happy to see Myatovic get in on the scoring. "He's playing great. His habits are so good for us. He's such a mature player for his age, very reliable in every situation. He's created several chances and he's just been a little bit snake bitten. Happy to see him break through tonight."

Tri-City made a game of it with two goals in the first five minutes of the third period. Marc Lajoie scored at 3:04 and just over a minute later Carson Haynes made it a 5-2 game. But that would be as close as the Americans would get. Myatovic iced it with his second of the night, into an empty net at 19:34.

In addition to their home game Friday against Portland, Seattle will host Everett Saturday at 6:05 p.m. Their four game homestand concludes Tuesday, March 15th when the Americans return to town.
