 Rio Grande Valley Vipers

Anderson And Dorsey To Miss All-Star Game

February 10, 2010 - NBA G League (G League)
Rio Grande Valley Vipers News Release

MCALLEN, TEXAS - The NBA Development League Rio Grande Valley Vipers announced today that guard Antonio Anderson (6-6, 215, Memphis), who has a shoulder injury, and forward Joey Dorsey (6-8, 278, Memphis), who is with the Houston Rockets, will miss Saturday's NBA Development League All-Star Game in Dallas.

Anderson is day-to-day with a separated right shoulder suffered on Friday at Albuquerque. Although Anderson has started both games since then, the Vipers medical staff decided it would be better for Anderson to rest so he can make a full recovery in-time for the Vipers' next game, on February 20 against the Maine Red Claws.

Dorsey was selected for his efforts during a 16-game NBA-assignment to the Vipers. However, since he is currently on the Rockets' roster and not the Vipers' roster, he is ineligible to participate.

Mike Harris (6-6, 235, Rice) will be the lone Vipers' player to participate in the All-Star game, becoming the first Viper ever to do so. Vipers head coach Chris Finch, assistant coaches Paul Mokeski and Jai Steadman and athletic trainer/strength and conditioning coach Joe Resendez will lead the Western Conference All-Star Team.

Among the replacements named to the Western Conference All-Star Team is former-Viper Desmon Farmer (6-5, 210, USC), who currently plays for the Reno Bighorns. Farmer averaged 24.7 points, 4.1 rebounds, 4.1 assists and 1.2 steals in 33 games (27 starts) for the Vipers during the 2007-08 season.

The NBA Development League All-Star game will take place on Saturday at 2:00 p.m. on Center Court at NBA All-Star Jam Session presented by adidas at the Dallas Convention Center. The game will be aired live on NBA TV, which be found on channel 310 on Time Warner Cable, 402 on Dish Network and 216 on DirecTV.
