Anaheim Recalls Etem; Reassigns Steckel to Norfolk

ANAHEIM, Calif. - The Anaheim Ducks announcedWednesday that the National Hockey League (NHL) club has recalled left wing Emerson Etem from the Norfolk Admirals, Anaheim 's primary development affiliate in the American Hockey League (AHL). In addition, Anaheim has reassigned center Dave Steckel to Norfolk.

Etem, 21, returns to Anaheim after posting 28 points (11g, 17a) in 25 contests played with the Admirals this season. In addition, the 6-1, 206-pound forward has appeared in 26 contests with Anaheim this season, registering 10 points (6g, 4a) with four penalty minutes and a +2 rating. He scored his first goal of the season, the game-winner, on Oct. 20 vs. Dallas. He added his first career multi-goal game (2-02) on Nov. 2 @ Buffalo.

The 2010 first round draft selection of Anaheim made his NHL debut with the Ducks in 2012-13, collecting10 points (3g, 7a) with nine penalty minutes in 38 contests. The Long Beach, California native has appeared in 62 career contests with the Ducks, totaling 20 points ( 8g, 11a) with 13 PIM and a +9 rating. Etem posted 16 points (13g, 3a) in 45 contests with Norfolk last season.

Steckel, 31, returns to the Admirals after appearing in one game with the Ducks following his February 1 recall. Steckel is scoreless in six games with Anaheim this season. He has totaled 79 points (33g. 46a) in 425 career NHL games split between stints with Washington, New Jersey, Toronto, and Anaheim. The 6-6, 215-pound center appeared in 21 games with the Ducks last season posting six points (1g, 6a). Steckel appeared in all seven of Anaheim's Conference Quarterfinal contests vs. Detroit last season, collecting two points.

A dependable faceoff specialist, Steckel led the NHL in faceoff percentage in 2010-11 (62.3%). In 10 NHL seasons, Steckel has compiled a career faceoff percentage of 58.3% (3031-for-5205). The 2001 first round (30th overall) draft selection of Los Angeles has registered 15 points (5g,9a) with a +1 rating this season in 36 games split between Norfolk (13) and Iowa (4).
