Ams Streak Ends in 7-1 Loss to Thunderbirds

The Americans were defeated 7-1 by the Seattle Thunderbirds tonight at the Toyota Center.

Jared Davidson opened scoring for the Thunderbirds 7:03 into the game. Seattle held on to their 1-0 lead for most of the period.

Sasha Mutala put Tri-City on the board with a power play goal with 2:40 remaining in the first period. The 20-year-old forward picked up a Seattle rebound and skated it all the way into the offensive zone, scoring top shelf on Thunderbirds netminder Thomas Milic. Mutala is now on a six game point streak with seven goals and three assists over that period. Jake Sloan received an assist on the goal. The 17-year-old forward is also on a six game point streak with four goals and three assists.

The score held tied at one until the middle of the second period.

Jordan Gustafson scored tonight's game winning goal on the power play 9:11 into the period. Matthew Rempe followed 13 seconds later with another goal to extend Seattle's lead to 3-1.

Five minutes later Jared Davidson followed with his second goal of the night for Seattle. The Americans trailed 4-1 heading into the final frame.

The Thunderbird's flurry of goals continued in the third period as Jordan Gustafson, Kevin Korchinski, and Sam Oremba each added a goal to give Seattle a final victory of 7-1.

Tomas Suchanek played the full game in net for the Americans and stopped 31 of 38 shots faced.

Final: 7-1 SEA

Shots: 38-22 SEA

The Americans will play three days this weekend in British Columbia before taking a week off for Christmas Break. Action will resume at the Toyota Center on December, 29 vs. Portland.
